After what happened to them last week, there aren’t going to be many folks that want anything to do with the Colts in sport betting on Thursday night.



Last week was shameful as they gave up 59 points to Green Bay, and the Colts do not win much in the preseason anyway. Making an NFL bet on the Colts in the preseason has been a quick way to lose money.

Simply considering the Colts are so awful in the preseason, NFL wagering statistics will likely like the Cincinnati Bengals in this game. And this is nothing surprising. It seems the Colts lose all the time in the preseason but in the regular season they turn it on and do just fine.

Cincinnati Bengals Backups against Colts Backups: This is the 5th preseason game for the Cincinnati Bengals when betting football given that they competed in the Hall of Fame Game and it’s the 4th preseason game for the Colts. Neither squad is likely to use their starters much time, if at all. The game is all about the backups. When it comes to backup players the Colts are just not quite great. Backup quarterback Curtis Painter has been awful in the preseason and he will likely get lots of the snaps on Thursday. Last week he was six of eleven with an interception. His quarterback rating was 46.4. At least the Cincinnati Bengals have a quality backup to Carson Palmer as JT O’Sullivan has played well. Even third string quarterback Jordan Palmer is a lot better than Painter. If the Colts were playing Peyton Manning and the starters then they would be worth a look but lacking the starters, the Colts are just a bad football squad.

Anybody Enthusiastic: Is there any inspiration for either of these teams? The Bengals have played four matches already. They just want to get out of this game and go home since they’ve got nothing to prove. The Colts backups probably do have some motivation to play better but after last week’s catastrophe, gamblers aren’t going to want to take them.
